I couldn't make up my mind when was the last time i had a cake of my own on my birthday and it seems quite unbelievable that i had one. I grabbed my lousy digital cam lying in pink bag and dashed to the kitchen. As i was slowly approaching the refrigerator, my heart pounded hard. The moment i opened the fridge door, taaaaaaada... the yellow box is sitting in the fridge, just like a baby sleeping soundly in his cradle.

Oh yah, its Bakerzin's, i've always wanted to try their pastries/cakes. And the cover of the box says "you deserve, our very own."
Snap, snap. Took photos of it just before it won't be a whole anymore, later in the morning. The chocolate decoration looks really nice, i kept staring at the cake for about ten minutes. The holes are due to the candles that were put up last night. I still can't believe its mine and i am really grateful for these two girls who made it happen. Ai Ping and Xueting, thank you SO MUCH.
Okay, i'm already so dramatic early in the morning, and i've yet blogged about yesterday's happenings. So, don't mind me... you know, it's once in a year thing and i'm really happy this year (unexpectedly).. that i want to exaggerate as much as i can. Read on if you think you can take the drama mama's way of blogging.
September 11, put aside the 911 incident, it's Calvell and I, our first year anniversary. And an advance birthday celebration for me. We meet up in the late afternoon at the usual where he popped up with one purple rose for me, how sweeeeeeeeet. It's purple, i never thought of having purple rose and it was meant to be my first surprise of the day. Successful (: We head off to window shopped around Orchard. Why Orchard? I think it's part of his surprise plan for me, and besides this boy here didn't do his homework well, fancy checking the location map in front of me.
Anyway, we were at Paragon where he finally give up, i think it's because i keep pestering him to tell me. Holding the tourist map guide, "waiwai, How do you get to Tanglin shopping centre?" Frowning, looking up his face, "errrrrrr...isn't that where ting is working at?" So we manage to hunt down the place but... its not Tanglin shopping centre that he wants to bring me to, it is Four Seasons Hotel for a buffet dinner. The place is... grand, like which hotel isn't? Anyway, the ambiance in the restaurant is good. Dim lights, seats that looks like those of palace, free flow of red wine and everything but the food wasn't to our liking so we left.

Vintage phone, haha. Excitement is already filling up inside me as i have never had buffet dinner before, in a hotel some more. Believe it or not. I wasn't really paying to attention to him when he's asking me whether we should change to other hotel or dine at Sakura buffet. LOL Having no experience at all in regarding the affairs of buffet, Calvell made the decision to go to Furama. "Let's take a cab there.." He said. "Walk lah, also not say very far, still in the vicinity of Orchard right? See the map. " I replied. Brings out the savior of the day, Mr sg map and points to the location. "Oooooooooooooook, near great world city, but where the hell is it?" I responded. Took my hand, cross the road and flagged a cab. I don't really like cabs, its an expensive toy and really a waste of money. But... The buffet starts at 630pm and we're already late so...
In the cab, he was basically exchanging route direction to Furama with the driver while i sat there busy taking pictures.
And finally, hunger pangs playing symphony, we took the lift to second floor, The Square@ Furama. Standing at the entrance, staring at the price stated... i hesitated and refuse to go in but he ignored me and went in on his own. -____-"' The service is almost excellent from the moment i stepped in, or is it i've never had this kind of treatment in my life before? The staff sit you in the chair, keep calling you Mam and all that, that i thought i could only see it on Tv. This is the second surprise of the day, successful (:

I had to follow while he teach me what to do, i feel so lost and weird in there.
Huge prawns, sweet potato & coconut soup, satays, kailan, yam rice, crispy duck, soft shell crab

From the left, Satay again, the meat is really tender and grilled, the sauce that chef made blends really well with the grill taste, unlike those you had in Lau Pa Sat. "It's healthier too." -Mr Chia added. Chicken, quite tasteless, i don't like this part of the chicken meat which texture is like tearing up cardboard. Steamed fish, this it the kind you always get to eat only during wedding banquet, boneless, the sauce is lightly salty, together with the fish meat is "mo tat ding". I feel so Ratatouille now, lol.
Cesar salad that we prepared ourselves, bread crumbs, cabbage,unlimited amount of bacon, egg and one slice of ham for me. =D Top left, wasabi sauce that suppose to go with the tiny weeny slice of sashimi lying near the sushis, upon chewing, i had to puke out. I can't take raw food... it's like putting maggots into my mouth and when you start chewing it, all the juice splatters across your tongue. YUCKS. In the smallest circular plate, is fried banana with sausage on top, i didn't try it. The banana smell is too overwhelming and i imagined that it won't go well with sausage. Lastly, in the spoon, is fish with asparagus? Uhhhh... nice, i can't quite remember the taste, a bit sweet and maybe they blends together so well that its indescribable.
Then it was exchanging anniversary gift session that i'm quite embarrassed to give because it doesn't cost a lot. But still, i hope you like it. (: Then he brings out a huge card that he made himself for me.. Eh wait... i remember the black board...i went with you to buy it two days ago. -___-"' Okay... this surprise.. mian qiang successful. hahha.

And we continued our buffet...
Our table always look empty and that's because the staffs are really active and good, clearing our plates 3 secs after we finished, like almost immediate luh. And i was too lazy to keep snapping photos of food, instead just gobble them down. I was staring outside the window, holding one satay and munching away, focusing hard on the taste, just when i swallowed a small bit of it. I saw two familiar reflection in the window panes.
Looking and staring at the window... "Eh, isn't that Xueting and Aiping?" i thought to myself. At that moment i thought i was day dreaming that they were here having dinner with me, it took me more than a minute to realize that they are here, REAL. With a Birthday cake lit, walking towards my left. I was stunned, my head goes.. front(where calvell is), side (where they are walking towards), front and side. Then three of them started singing birthday song and worst is... the other two large table of aunties and uncles all joined in, turning around and singing and clapping. Tears made an exit from my eye and slide down uncontrollably. It was really a surprise, I am very happy, very blissed with my two best friends and boyfriend there last night. made a wish, blew the candles with quivering lips because of the crying and yup, my birthday cake.
I can't remember i posed for this picture, i guess my mind was really blank at that point of time. And seriously, it's my very first picture taken with birthday cake, lit candles in the atmosphere of warm wishes surrounding me and being the center of attraction...

And the happy girl received two birthday gift and a silly toy to prank me from ting. HAHA. Thank you Calvell, for the last surprise which is the bag that you bought as birthday present for me. SUCCESSFUL (: And thank you ting and ping, for the very cute and sweet message engraving. After both of them left, i was still left speechless sitting there, it all happened too fast and i don't want it to end. We continue our buffet again as it's the part where i don't want to miss, DESERTS.
Awful lot of cakes and pastries. We couldn't eat so much already but i should have taken pictures of the mountains of cakes that is at the counter.
Panna Cotta is good, the one with strawberry is heavenly. The rest, LOL.. i dunno, all taste the same.
GAHH... AND ITS FONDUE AND ICE CREAM. YES, FREE FLOW. I really should have taken photos of the fondue, ice cream parlor, and the fruits. But I'm too full to really enjoy it, damn wasted.
And lastly, jelly and fruits. Eh wait.. i think i had two more sticks of satay before i call it a day. And that boy, can really eat.. he had one more bowl of soup, kailan, lady fingers etc. Billed, and i don't want to know the amount or i'll be guilty and miserable for the rest of the month.
All bloated, face, arms, stomach and ready to head home. Thank you boyfriend, for the treat. (:
